Looking at trees 16th March 2020

While you are out and about, take a good, close look at the trees in your area. Do they know it's springtime? Have their buds burst into leaf yet?

Here are some trees I spotted today.

Looking at trees 16th March 2020

Can you find the same type of trees in your area? Are their buds any further along than these?
Take a notebook and pencil with you, study the trees closely and sketch what you see.

As always, I would be delighted to see your sketches.

Update!
18th March - The horse chestnut has just burst into leaf! The weather has been much milder in the past 2 days so maybe this is the reason. Here is a picture from yesterday

  1. Hi Ms O'Brien, the buds are on some of our trees and flowers on some trees too. Our tulips have come up and we have lots of daffodils. Grace Dempsey

  2. That sounds just lovely Grace. There's nothing like tulips and daffodils to brighten up a dull day!

    1. Hmm your apple tree is
ahead of mine. However I have leaves here now on hawthorn and horse chestnut. Can you find out what type of trees are the other two in your garden?
